Recently, Jhanvi Kapoor left Karan Johar’s talent agency DCAA and joined ‘Collective Artist Network’. Apart from Jhanvi, many artists are changing their talent management teams. Earlier, stars like Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra have also left their long standing partnership. Now filmmaker Karan Johar has reacted.
Karan Johar explained the reason for the change
While talking to HT, Karan Johar said that today’s artists increasingly want the recognition of stardom. Due to social media and technology, people face judgment quickly. He said, ‘Today’s generation wants recognition very quickly and lives under constant judgement. It affects mental health. I don’t consider their decisions wrong, I can understand what they are feeling.
Karan also admitted that the pressure of the industry is so much that he will no longer fully encourage his children to get into acting. Karan Johar said that even though artists keep changing agencies, Dharma’s talent management is still a strong part of the company. He told that artists often keep coming and going, but this is the general trend of the entire industry.
Karan said, ‘Some people leave our agency and then come back. This goes on continuously. Reading something or the other about yourself every day is mentally tiring, so advice and therapy is necessary.
Dharma’s talent will always be given priority
Karan told that he will only choose the right artist for any film, no matter which agency it is from, but as a production house, Dharma’s talent will always be given priority. He says that it is important to remain a part of the family and be together in every project.
Let us tell you, Karan had earlier also said that talent management is a ‘thankless job’. Many artists change agencies after two years. ‘No one is loyal in this industry. Artists keep coming and going. You invest in a talent for two years and suddenly he goes somewhere else. It continues like a cycle.
