Amidst the rumors spreading on social media and internet, National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important clarification regarding JEE Main 2026. For some days, it was being claimed that students will no longer get the option to choose the examination center and the centers will be decided only on the basis of their Aadhar card address. But NTA has called this news completely misleading and wrong. The agency made it clear that students will have full right to choose the examination center of their choice like before.
What was said in the NTA statement?
NTA informed that JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted in two sessions in January and April 2026. In the past years, many students had complained during the application process that they faced problems due to differences in the information given in their Aadhar card, 10th certificate and other documents.
For this reason NTA had issued a public notice on 29 September 2025. In this, students were advised to check their identity information like Aadhaar, UDID card, date of birth and category certificate before starting the application and get them updated if necessary.
But this notice was not related to the selection of examination city or centre. It was issued only to ensure the correctness of identity documents so that no student faces technical difficulties during the application process.
What did NTA say?
NTA clarified that students and parents should not get confused by the news spreading on social media and some websites. The agency said that before relying on any information, see the official notice issued on nta.ac.in. NTA also said that no change has been made in the policy of selecting examination centers and all the rumors are misleading and unsubstantiated.
