A disturbing news of attack on the fourth pillar of democracy has come to light in Dumka, Jharkhand. Where the guardians of the law kept the law aside. Journalists returning from minister’s program assaulted
This incident took place in Hansdiha police station area of Dumka district. According to the information, senior journalist Mrityunjay Pandey and journalist Nitish Verma of two different private channels were returning from the program of Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav. There was a huge traffic jam at Hansdiha Chowk. When the journalists tried to find out the reason for the jam, the policemen stationed there started pushing and shoving them.
Journalists accused of mental torture
The victim journalists allege that despite introducing themselves, the policemen under the leadership of Hansdiha police station in-charge beat them up. The limit reached when he was forcibly taken to the police station, held hostage for hours and mentally tortured.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, forces of three police stations and Jarmundi DSP reached the spot. The journalists were freed after the intervention of SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar. Various journalist organizations have met the SP and submitted a written complaint and have demanded suspension of the guilty policemen.
