The name of Jhulam Goswami’s biopic was ‘Chakda Express’. Anushka Sharma was preparing to make a comeback on screen with this film. ‘Chakda Express’ was being produced by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Sharma under the banner of his production house Clean Slates Films. But after the film was announced, it got shelved.
What happened to Jhulan Goswami’s biopic?
Work on ‘Chakda Express’ started in the year 2019. Actor and writer Abhishek Banerjee had also completed the first draft of the film. The shooting of the film was to start in the year 2020, but Covid-19 and Anushka Sharma’s pregnancy became a hindrance for ‘Chakda Express’. After this, Netflix India had partnered with Karnesh Sharma’s production house to work on ‘Chakda Express’. But if reports are to be believed, Karnesh Sharma ended his deal with Netflix last year.
Shooting of ‘Chakda Express’ was completed in 6 months
Anushka Sharma also took training with the cricketer to play the character of Jhulan Goswami on screen. The film was announced in 2022 and the shooting of ‘Chakda Express’ was completed in just 6 months, from June to December 2022. However, till date no update has been revealed on this.
‘This is a beautiful film’
Actor Divyendu Bhattacharya was also going to be seen in ‘Chakda Express’. In a conversation with News18 Shosha this year, he talked about the film. He had said- ‘You have no idea how eagerly I am waiting for its release. This is a beautiful film. I saw it at (director) Prosit Roy’s house, and although it was not completely ready, it still surprised me.
Divyendu had said about the delay in ‘Chakda Express’ – ‘I don’t know. If I had any update I would definitely tell you. But Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. I have no idea what is going on between them.
