Sharad Pawar faction’s MLA Jitendra Awhad made a very sensational allegation in the assembly. He said that some MLAs of the state had resorted to Aghori puja and black magic to remove Devendra Fadnavis from the post of Chief Minister. According to Awhad, a person named Ashok Kharat had assured these leaders that he could remove Fadnavis from power. He claimed that around 38 MLAs had gone to Kharat and had even cut their fingers as part of the Aghori ritual.
Referring to an old case of 2007, Awhad said that journalist Balu Tupe was murdered to save Kharat. At that time this matter was very much discussed in Nashik and its news was also published in newspapers. He alleged that the police were also aware of this entire matter, but money was taken to save the accused.

Further, he said that some senior officers also bowed before Kharat and large scale transactions took place to save him. Awhad also claimed that the Chief Minister had received information about this entire conspiracy about six months ago and meetings of some leaders were also held with Kharat.

According to Awhad, in those meetings Kharat had said, “Give me some time, the Chief Minister will be at home soon.” Expressing serious concern about black magic, he asked whether such practices are being given government recognition in the state? He raised the question that how did Ashok Kharat become so influential that roads and other facilities are being built for him with government money.

Awhad also alleged that postings in places like Education Department, MHADA and SRA are also being affected through Kharat. He said that he has a list of 38 MLAs who had cut off their fingers after going near Kharat. He also told that recently in Vidhan Bhawan, MLAs were looking at each other’s fingers and asking whether they had gone to Kharat. Finally, Awhad raised the question why the people associated with Kharat’s trust have not been arrested yet.
