Shopian News: Continuing its anti-terrorism campaign in South Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted a large conspiracy to spread violence in Shopian district. The police have busted a hideout and arrested two terrorist colleagues in different incidents. Also, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition including 3 pistols, 6 grenades have been recovered.
Two terrorist colleagues were arrested in a joint operation by Army, Police and CRPF in DK Pora area of Shopian, while a hideout was busted in Imam Sahib area of Shopian.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, two pistols, four grenades, 43 live cartridges and other objectionable materials were recovered from two OGWs in the DK Pora campaign. A pistol, a pistol magazine, two grenades, five pistol bullets and 20 live bullets of AK-47 were recovered from the whereabouts in Imam Sahib.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police busted the terrorist hideout in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian district of South Kashmir after getting the input. Acting on these reliable inputs, a joint team of police and security forces launched a siege and search operation in the area.
During the operation, hidden cash was detected and a stock of weapons and ammunition was recovered, which thwarted the potential threat in the area.
A police officer said that this seizure is an important achievement as this can prevent a possible terrorist attack in the area. “Efforts are on to identify and catch the people involved in hiding weapons,” the official said.
Security has been increased in South Kashmir after getting input about terrorist activity. The police have intensified monitoring and search operations in sensitive areas to eliminate terrorist support network.
The officials have registered a case and started further investigation to find out the sources of the recovered weapons and the intention of their use. Meanwhile, the local people have appreciated the action of the police, they believe that this will help in creating a safe environment in the district.
