It has been accepted.
State government challenge
In the same case, co-accused actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and local resident Dushyant Singh were acquitted by the trial court. The state government has challenged this decision of acquittal in the High Court. Hearing is also scheduled on the ‘Leave to Appeal’ filed by the government.
Hearing of all appeals together
On April 5, 2018, Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in prison in this case, while all the other co-accused – Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Dushyant – were acquitted. Salman Khan appealed against this sentence in the District and Sessions Court and was released on bail.
At the same time, the state government filed leave to appeal in the Rajasthan High Court against the acquittal of the co-accused. During the hearing, the appeal challenging Salman Khan’s five-year sentence was also transferred to the High Court.
Apart from this, the appeal of the Arms Act case registered against Salman Khan at Luni police station on 15 October 1998 was also transferred to the High Court on 21 March 2022. At the same time, if the court takes cognizance of the appeal of the state government, then the troubles of the already acquitted co-accused may increase again. This hearing is expected to give a big decision on the future of Salman Khan and other accused.
