A strange incident has come to light in Jodhpur’s MBM (Magniram Bangar Memorial) University these days. The university released the result of BE second semester (Mechanical), in which many students were given marks up to 137 out of 100. The students were surprised to see the results and it became a topic of discussion as soon as the news spread on social media.
According to reports, this incident happened on October 7, when the university had uploaded the result and marksheet on its website. In the result, marks from 103 to 137 were recorded in practical and sessional subjects, whose maximum marks were 100. About 800 students had appeared in this examination and some form of discrepancy or the other was found in everyone’s marksheet.
Students were stunned to see 137 marks out of 100.
According to media reports, the mark sheet of a BE second semester student showed 137 marks out of 100 in Engineering Mechanics Lab subject. Not only this, the same student got 123 marks in Chemistry Lab. When he calculated the total of his entire marksheet, he found that the total was 219 out of 600, whereas the actual total was 675.
Similarly, strange numbers were recorded in the marksheets of other students also. Someone was given more than 100 marks in 5 subjects, while someone was made “top even among the toppers” in 7 subjects. A student got 131 marks in Machine Drawing (New) subject, which is not possible.
Result removed from website
When the students saw this discrepancy, they informed the university administration. Within a few hours, the university removed the link of the result and marksheet from the website. But by then many students had shared its screenshot on social media. After this the matter came into discussion.
technical problem
Seeing the matter escalating, MBM University’s Examination Controller Dr. Anil Gupta clarified that all this happened due to a technical error. He told that there has been a discrepancy in the results of about 800 students of BE second semester. Due to technical problem during uploading, the numbers were entered into the system incorrectly. Dr. Gupta further said that now the results are being completely checked and improved. We have given clear instructions to the technical team to correct the result and publish the new result as soon as possible.
