Johnny Lever has spent more than forty years in the industry and he has also seen many ups and downs in this film journey. At one time, he was one of the most successful comedy actors of Bollywood. Recently, Johnny Lever revealed during a conversation that he was addicted to alcohol on a career peak and used to drink alcohol till 4 am on Chowpatty in Mumbai.
Johnny, who started his career at the age of 17, gained popularity fast. Within six years, he became famous from house to house, and his acting CD started selling in America. He signed many films and did comedy shows around the world and was living his dreams, but for this he had to pay a heavy price.
Johnny Lever used to drink a lot of alcohol
Johnny Lever, who arrived with his daughter Jamie at comedian Sapan Verma’s YouTube show, told how success started affecting his health and lifestyle. He told, “I used to be very tired. Shooting films during the day and performing on the show at night. Also, I used to drink too much alcohol. I used to get tired of it. I used to sit backstage as if I am in Shavasana.”
Despite his fatigue, Johnny never missed any commitment. He said, “I always used to give my performance, no matter how tired I feel, but after the show, nothing was left in me.”
Johni used to drink alcohol by sitting on Chowpatty till 4 am
After this, he gave a serious warning to his audience. He said, “I request people in the limit. I have crossed my limit, and it is not worth it. I was an alcoholic. I used to sit on Chowpatty and drink till 4 in the morning. Many times the police used to come, but when they recognized me, they used to laugh and say, ‘Hey, Johnny Bhai’ and I would let me sit in my car.
Liquor has not been applied for 24 years
He confessed in the same show, “Success can shake your mind, there was a time when a film was not made without me. I was also doing international shows and traveling continuously. I used to be lost in all this. But finally, I finally took a decision, I took a decision, I have stopped drinking alcohol. Now it’s been 24 years, and I have not even touched alcohol.”
Johnny also cleared that he maintained a professional attitude. He said, “I can say one thing proudly, I never performed drunk. I never drank alcohol before any show.”

In recent years, Johnny Lever has become quite selective about his roles. This year, he has appeared in three films, ‘Bads Ravi Kumar’, ‘B Happy’, and ‘Housefull 5’, and another film, “Welcome to the Jungle”, is ready for release. However, its official release date has not been announced yet.
