Himanshu Gupta is a resident of Sitarganj, Uttarakhand. His father used to sell tea on the roadside and the family’s expenses were covered through this. The financial condition of the house was such that at times it became difficult to continue his studies. But Himanshu’s parents wanted their son to do something big after studying. This thinking of the family inspired Himanshu to move forward.

Himanshu’s childhood was spent in struggles. To go to school, he had to walk several kilometers every day. Many times he had to go to school even in conditions like rain and heat. But his mind remained focused on studies. Himanshu was always hardworking and smart in studies. His dream was always big and he never gave up.

Higher education and UPSC preparation

After completing school, Himanshu continued his further studies. He graduated from Hindu College, Delhi University and then completed post-graduation from JNU. During this time he started preparing for UPSC Civil Services Examination. The special thing was that he never took the help of expensive coaching. He did most of his studies on his own i.e. through self-study.

success in first attempt

UPSC preparation is not easy. It requires years of hard work, patience and continuous practice. Himanshu passed the UPSC exam in the year 2018 in his first attempt and was selected in the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). This was a big achievement for him, but his dream was to become an IAS.

Persistent Effort and IPS Selection

After this Himanshu made a second attempt. In the year 2019, he was selected in the Indian Police Service (IPS). This was also an important success for him. But his main goal was to become an IAS, so he prepared with full hard work and dedication in the third attempt. Finally in the year 2020, Himanshu achieved All India Rank 139 in the UPSC exam and he was selected for IAS. This was the biggest dream of his life. His hard struggle and continuous hard work not only brought glory to his family but also became a source of inspiration for the entire area.

Himanshu’s story teaches the youth that hard work and efforts in the right direction are not necessary for success, but resources. He proved that if a person remains honest towards his goal and continuously works hard, then even difficult circumstances cannot become an obstacle in his path.
