Kamal haasan: Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan is once again caught in controversies due to one of his comments. In fact, during the promotion event of his upcoming film Thug Life, the actor made such a comment about Kannada and Tamil language that there has been a ruckus on him. What comment did Kamal Haasan controversy?
The controversy began when Kamal Haasan greeted the audience with “Uyre Urave Tamile” (meaning “my life and my soul is Tamil”) at the promotional event of thugs life in Chennai. Referring to the presence of Kannada actor Shivrajkumar at the same program, Haasan said, “This is my family at that place. That is why he (Shivrajkumar) has come here. That is why when I have my life and family Tamil, you are also involved (part of it). Your language (Kannada) is born from Tamil.”
This statement of the superstar has been considered as an insult to the Kannada language and expressed anger over it.
BJP opposed Kamal Haasan’s statement
Reacting strongly, BJP state president BY Vijayendra wrote a post on X (East Twitter) to condemn Haasan’s comments. He wrote in his post, “Despite acting in many languages including Kannada, Kamal Haasan has shown ego by consulting Kannada in the presence of actor Shivrajkumar.”
He wrote that the history of Kannada is rich and has earned global respect for centuries. He said, “Before making such statements, Kamal Haasan should have remembered the contribution of Kannada industry in his career. His words reflect gratitude and ego.” He demanded an unconditional apology from the actor.
Kannada supporting groups also got angry
The pro -Kannada groups also expressed their anger. Activists of Karnataka Rakshan Vedike tore the posters of ‘Thug Life’ in Bangalore and issued a warning of a possible statewide ban on the film. Criticizing Hassan, the leader of the organization Praveen Shetty said, “We are warning you that if you talk against the Kannada and Kannada people, we will ban your film.”
