Former cricketer Yograj Singh has once again come into the limelight. Now he has accused Kapil Dev, former captain of the Indian cricket team, of the match -fixing (Kapil Dev Match Fixing). He has even claimed that his case was not heard intentionally. India won the 1983 World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. About 11 years later, former cricketer Manoj Prabhakar accused Kapil Dev that Kapil had taken money to fix the match in a tournament played in Sri Lanka.
According to Inside Sport, Yograj Singh said, “Ask all the journalists where the file of that match is closed in the Supreme Court. Who was involved in the match-fixing case? First Kapil Dev’s name came, then Mohammad Azharuddin and many other players. Why the file of that case was closed and why the file was not opened. Because it did not happen because it did not cut because it has not cut the heads of many veterans.”
Accusing Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar revealed in 1997 that Kapil Dev had offered him money to play slow. The case was investigated by the CBI, which in his report had told that there was no strong evidence of match fixing against Kapil Dev. At the same time, BCCI formed the Chandrachud Committee to investigate the matter, which submitted its report in the year 2000, allegedly stated that there was no concrete reason why Manoj Prabhakar had to wait for several years to report the allegations of match fixing.
Yograj Singh has also targeted Kapil Dev earlier. Last year, he claimed to threaten to kill Kapil Dev when he was out of the Indian squad.
