There are many actors in Bollywood who glow a lot in their beginning, but later they get away from the industry for some reason. One such name is Mayuri Congo, who was once counted among the popular actresses of Bollywood.

Most people remember Mayuri as Karisma Kapoor’s onscreen daughter. She played the role of Mansi, daughter of Karisma Kapoor in the TV show ‘Karishma- The Miracles of Destiny’ in 2003, who was very much discussed on the small screen at that time.

But the journey from school class student to Karisma Kapoor’s onscreen daughter was not at all easy for Mayuri. Even though today’s new generation does not know much about them, but in the 90s he had made a distinct identity on both Bollywood and TV platforms.

The journey of acting is just a coincidence

Born on 15 August 1982, Mayuri was very smart in studies. His journey of acting started just by a chance, which later overturned his life. His film career began in 1995 with the film ‘Naseem’, which was a sensitive film based on the background of the Babri Masjid demolition.

In this film, he played the role of a 16 -year -old Muslim girl ‘Naseem’. Interestingly, when she was offered this film, she was preparing for her 12th board exam. She first refused for this film, but later when director Saeed Akhtar Mirza explained to her, she agreed to do the film.

Mayuri’s film career

Mayuri’s performance was so strong that Mahesh Bhatt cast her in his next film ‘Papa Kehta Hai’, which was one of the 1996 brilliant films. The song of this film, ‘As soon as you leave the house …’, gave his innocence from house to house. She was climbing the stairs of success. Meanwhile, Mayuri was selected in IIT, but he gave priority to films first and gave up studies for Bollywood.

He acted in many films, including ‘Betabi’ (1997), ‘Ho Ho Hoi Pyaar Ki Jeet’ (1999), ‘Badal’ (2000), ‘Papa The Great’, ‘Jung’, ‘Shikari’, and ‘Jeetge Hum’ (2001). He stepped into the Telugu industry through the film ‘Vamsi’ (2000). Mayuri acted in about 16 films in her career, some of which could not be released, due to which the directors started to back down from taking her in their films. In such a situation, he turned to TV.

She married Aditya Dhillon, an NRI banker and shifted to America. There he did MBA. While stepping into a corporate career, Mayuri worked in the US from 2004 to 2012. During this time, in 2011, she gave birth to son Qian and then after returning to India in 2013, she started working as a managing director in a digital marketing agency. Seeing his understanding in talent and business, he was made the head of Google India in 2019. This is such an achievement, which very few people are able to achieve in the journey from films to corporate. In an interview, Mayuri admitted that the decision to change career was difficult, but it was also necessary.
