RCB Victory Parade Stampede: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday (June 8, 2025) claimed that he came to know about the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium at 5.45 pm on June 4, the day the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) celebrated the IPL victory. In this accident, 11 people died and more than 56 people were injured.
Siddaramaiah said, “I came to know at 5.45 pm that there were deaths. The deaths were reported in the hospital at 3.50 pm, but I came to know about it only at 5.45 pm. By that time I did not know about the deaths due to stampede, I have taken action against him.”
His statement shows that he came to know about the incident only after the end of the ceremony in Vidhan Saudh. Chief Minister Chinnaswamy did not attend the program organized at the Stadium. However, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar was involved in the ceremony.
MN Cariaswana wrote a letter regarding security
His remarks came a day after a letter written by MN Kariyaswana, the security officer of Vidhan Saudh, in which there was concern for security to organize the program outside the assembly. He wrote to G. Satyavanti, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, that millions of people have to come to the assembly, since there is a shortage of security personnel, it will be difficult to make security.
Separating himself from organizing the program, the Chief Minister said, “The incident happened near the Cricket Stadium, I have nothing to do with it. It should not have happened.” He said that this program was organized by the Cricket Association and he participated in it only after getting the invitation.
When the Chief Minister was asked about any plan, meeting or participation of top leaders regarding this program, he refused any information.
