A unique and dangerous cyber fraud in Karnataka has shocked the police and people. This time the thugs made a fake video of US President Donald Trump using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and made people lost crores through a fake investment app. More than 200 people have been victims of this scam and according to the police, this number may increase further. So far, the cheating of about 2 crore rupees has been confirmed.
How did this scam happen?
According to the news published on Business Standard, SP Anshu Kumar of Haweri district said that an app was created in this fraud, which was named ‘Donald Trump Rental App’. Short videos related to this app were played on social media and YouTube, in which a fake clip made from Trump’s AI was shown.
As soon as people click on the link, they were asked to download an app. Then a registration fee was charged on the app and gradually a large amount was deposited. Once the money was deposited, both the app and the thug would disappear.
6 lakh scam with lawyer
A 38 -year -old lawyer told The Indian Express that he invested about 5,93,240 in this scheme between January and April 2025. He said, “I saw a short on YouTube claiming to invest in the Trump Hotel. On clicking on the link, I was asked to download the app. First submit 1,500, then 30 rupees every day started coming to the account. It increased the trust and I slowly invest up to 1 lakh.” The lawyer said that later he asked for more money in the name of tax and when he gave that too, no returns were received and the app disappeared.
People were cheated even in Bengaluru, Tumkuru and Mangaluru
Apart from Haaveri, many people have fallen victim to this scam in other districts of Karnataka like Bengaluru, Tumkuru and Mangaluru. So far, the police have received more than 15 complaints only in Haweri and they are appealing to the rest of the victims to come forward and file a complaint.
AI and social media become a new weapon of thugs
The special thing in this case is that by misusing AI technology, the thugs prepared a video that resembled and speaking like Donald Trump. Seeing this kind of technology, the common people were deceived, especially when they saw money coming every day. The lawyer claimed that he has seen many people who have been victims of this scam. He said, “Government employees, police officers and businessmen are also trapped in this trap.”

This case has proved that the mail of AI and fake videos has now become a new tool for thugs. If you have also seen a video like “Donald Trump Investment” or “High Return Scheme” on social media, then be alert immediately. The police appeal that if you too have been victims of a fake app or scheme, then report in the nearest police station without delay.
