Railway station name change: Preparations are being made to change the name of another railway station in the country. The Siddaramaiah government of Karnataka has also approved this. The proposal to change the name of Tumkur railway station in Karnataka to ‘Dr. Sri Sri Shivkumar Swamiji railway station’ has been approved. This station comes under the South Western Railway (SWR) area of Indian Railways.
In a letter written on April 8, the state government has requested the Union Home Ministry to consider the proposal positively and provide necessary approval in this regard. The state government said that Shri Siddhganga Math has an important place in the hearts of people of all communities of the state and is providing food, shelter and education for the upliftment of the deprived people for many decades.
‘Many PM and President have praised the monastery’
According to the state government, ‘Padmabhushan Dr. Sri Sri Shivkumar Mahaswamiji became the head of the monastery in 1930. For about 87 years, he served humanity. The Siddaramaiah government said that his led monastery has been praised by many dignitaries including many Presidents and Prime Minister of India.
Government of Karnataka appealed to Ministry of Home Affairs
The Karnataka government said, “Keeping this in mind, the Union Home Ministry is requested to change the name of Tumkur railway station to Dr. Sri Sri Shivkumar Swamiji railway station positively consider the proposal of the state government positively and issued a notification as soon as possible.”
Names have been changed for these railway stations
Explain that the Central Government had changed the name of Bangalore City railway station in Karnataka to Krantivir Sangoli Railna railway station and Gulbarga as Kalburgi railway station. The names of Faizabad, Mughalsarai, Allahabad railway station, Jhansi and MP’s Habibganj railway station have also changed. Faizabad is known as Ayodhya Cantt, Mughalsarai as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Allahabad as Prayagraj Junction, Jhansi Veerangana Maharani Laxmibai and Habibganj as Rani Kamalapati railway station.
