Karsevak Santosh Dubey, who was in the front line of the 1992 movement, became emotional regarding the grand flag hoisting program to be held in Ayodhya. Describing it as the “fulfillment of a decades-old resolve”, he said that this moment is extremely proud for all those kar sevaks who had given their all in the movement. Dubey says that the struggles, sacrifices and pain that he and his comrades endured seem worthwhile after seeing the completion of the temple today.
Memories of struggle and sacrifice
Recalling the violent clashes of 1992, Dubey said that bullets were fired at the Kar Sevaks, many comrades were martyred in front of him, and he himself carried the injured comrades on his shoulders. He said that his father had ordered, “Do not come back without demolishing the structure,” and this resolve became the source of energy within him. Dubey told that the Kar Sevaks were divided into 17 teams after being given hammers, goiters, shovels and swords and all the comrades took a pledge to fight till death.
Dubey also admitted that after demolishing the structure, he clearly said both on camera and in the court, “I have demolished the structure, it was a religious act.” According to him, the repression, lathi charge, bullets and arrests of that time pale in comparison to the divinity of the temple and the preparations for flag hoisting. He said that this moment is a symbol of the significance, tenacity and penance of his life.
Celebration led by Prime Minister
Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dubey said that there was a time when there was a government that opened fire in Ayodhya, and today is the time when flowers are being showered on the devotees. He told that on December 1, a collective vote of thanks will be expressed to PM Modi by doing Saptakoshi Parikrama. According to Dubey, today when the grand flag is going to be hoisted on the temple of Ramlala, then it is a moment of joy, satisfaction and resolution-fulfillment for every kar sevak associated with the movement.
Ravi Shankar Pandey, who was a Kar Sevak during the demolition of Babri Masjid, says that our decades old resolution is coming true today. The historic program of flag hoisting is going to take place tomorrow and the Prime Minister will also participate. For us, especially for us living Kar Sevaks, this moment is indescribable. The dream for which comrades sacrificed their lives, someone’s hand was broken, someone’s leg was broken, many comrades were martyred, today that resolution seems to be fulfilled.
He said that today a grand flag hoisting is taking place at the same place where bullets were fired, where we all had faced struggle. Kothari brothers were shot in front of us, Santosh Dubey was shot, and we were the ones who saved him by carrying him on our shoulders. There is a world of difference between the situation then and today.
He said that today people are coming here not only from the country but also from abroad. Where earlier not a single foreigner was seen, today 30% foreign devotees are seen. This change shows that our struggle was successful. The temple is nearing completion and our decades old resolution is coming true today.
