Delhi-based para sprinter Simran Sharma came to Modinagar, Ghaziabad to celebrate Karva Chauth. Her husband Gajender Singh (Gajju) is also her coach, it was he who, after seeing Simran for the first time, advised her to run professionally. Simran has recently won gold medal in 100 meter and silver medal in 200 meter T12 (visually impaired) category in the World Para Athletics Championship held in Delhi.

Holding a filter to see the moon, Simran Singh will stand in front of Indian Army hero Gajendra Singh, who is not only her life partner but also her coach, guide and biggest supporter. Eagerly waiting for her Karva Chauth gift this year, Simran Singh says that in the last eight years, the love between her and her husband has only grown. He said, “We have been married for 8 years, but the love between us has only grown.”

Hindustan Times quoted Simran as saying, “Karva Chauth is a special occasion for us, so we have come to our home in Ghaziabad to spend time with our family. My target every year is to get some gold and spend the money for Gajju (said with a smile)!”

Simran Sharma won the bronze medal in the 200 meters (T12) competition at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. He won gold medals in the 2024 Kobe and 2025 New Delhi World Championships.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, 34-year-old Gajender said, “I met Simran for the first time in 2015. I saw her training and told her, why don’t you run professionally?”

Simran said, “From there we came closer and fell in love. Gajendra is as nervous as I am before every competition, even I am not. And he celebrates my victory with such joy that only a best friend can have.”

Simran says, “I am very happy to win gold and silver in the World Championships, but there are many more medals to win for India.” Her husband said, “Our aim is to win a medal in the 2026 Asian Para Games.
