After the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israel attack, a series of protests are continuing in Jammu and Kashmir, due to which the atmosphere in the valley remains very tense. There is deep anger among the people over Khamenei’s death and demonstrations have been seen in many areas of the valley for the last several days. Since then the security forces are continuously on alert mode.
Lal Chowk and surrounding areas sealed before Friday prayers
In view of the Friday prayers, the administration has imposed strict restrictions in the main area of Srinagar, Lal Chowk and surrounding areas. Officials say that the crowd often increases after Friday prayers, hence security arrangements have already been strengthened to prevent any untoward incident. As a precautionary measure, movement of common people has been completely banned towards Lal Chowk and no one will be allowed to go to that area without any necessary reason.
Security will be tightened in the entire city
According to senior officials of the security department, security will be further tightened in the entire city. The deployment of security forces has also been increased in other districts of Kashmir Valley. Additional contingents of police and Central Reserve Police Force i.e. CRPF have been deployed in sensitive areas. Blockades have been made at various places and barricades have been installed at many intersections so that the crowd can be controlled.
Situation is gradually becoming normal, but restrictions continue
Although officials say that now the situation is gradually becoming normal, but as a precaution, restrictions are still in place at many places. The administration says that the purpose of all these steps is only to maintain law and order. Officials are constantly monitoring the situation and people are being appealed to maintain peace.
