100 and 200 Notes News: Whenever people go to withdraw cash from ATMs, most of the people withdraw only 500 rupee notes. After taking 500 notes, people often have to wander for change. But now to reduce the difficulties of the people, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday asked banks to ensure that Rs 100 and 200 rupee notes should also come out of the ATM.

People should not have problems in small taking- RBI

The central bank said that it is necessary to do so to increase the availability of these notes for the public. Banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAO) will have to implement this instruction in a phased manner. The ATM operated by non-banking institutions is called ‘White Label ATM’ (WLA).

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a circular, “It has been decided to increase public access to the bank notes of the often used price class that all banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAOs) will ensure that Rs 100 and 200 rupee notes are also released from their ATMs on a regular basis.”

100-200 notes demand more

According to the circular, by September 30, 2025, 75 per cent ATMs (Automated Taylor Machines) should be removed from at least one cassette, bank notes of Rs 100 or Rs 200 should be withdrawn. After this, by 31 March, 2026, bank notes of Rs 100 or Rs 200 should be withdrawn from at least one cassette in 90 percent ATMs.

On behalf of RBI, banks have been asked to increase the availability of more than 100 and 200 rupee notes in ATMs. This order must be applied to both banks and White Label ATM operators (WLAO) in a sequential manner. After this order, there is a stir among the banks and officers of the country. After this order, banks will have to work hard in ATMs for 100 and 200 rupee notes.
