A surprising revelation has come to light as soon as the government changed in Bangladesh. President Mohammad Shahabuddin has said things that can cause political upheaval. He accused former chief advisor Mohammad Yunus of sidelining him. Shahabuddin said that Yunus violated constitutional traditions many times and kept him away from many important decisions of the country for about one and a half years.

President Shahabuddin gave an interview to Bangladeshi newspaper ‘Kaler Kantho’. During this time he said, ‘During the time of the interim government, many such ordinances were issued, which were not needed in any way. There was no discussion of any kind with me regarding these. He also said that under constitutional rules the Chief Advisor has to inform the President after any foreign trip, but Yunus did not do so. President Shahabuddin alleged that Yunus made about 15 foreign trips, but did not disclose anything.

‘Kept me in the dark’ – Shahabuddin

Shahabuddin said that no information was given regarding the trade deal between Bangladesh and America. Yunus ignored the constitutional responsibilities of the President. He also claimed that Yunus tried to keep him in the dark and kept him away from every decision related to the country.

So was Yunus conspiring against Shahabuddin?

After the claims of President Shahabuddin, there may be an increase in the stir in the politics of Dhaka. If their claims are to be believed, Yunus did not follow the rules of the Constitution and tried to hatch a conspiracy. Shahabuddin said that Yunus not only hurt the dignity of the President but also tried to weaken his identity. It has also been claimed that even his photo was removed from Bangladeshi embassies abroad.
