
Every year Kharmas occurs twice a year. Kharmas occurs when the Sun transits in the zodiac sign of Jupiter Jupiter, then Kharmas occurs. The duration of Kharmas is 30 days.

During Kharmas there is an atmosphere of religion, penance and restraint. Therefore, this period is considered the time of fasting, worship and self-restraint.

On December 16, 2025, the Sun will transit into Sagittarius, which will mark the beginning of Kharmas. Kharmas will end when the Sun enters Capricorn on January 14, 2026. In such a situation, Kharmas will remain from 16 December 2025 to 14 January 2026.

When the Sun transits in the zodiac sign of Jupiter, the auspiciousness of the Jupiter gets reduced due to the brightness of the Sun. Therefore, auspicious and auspicious things are not done during Kharmas.

According to astrology, when the Sun is in the signs of Jupiter i.e. Sagittarius and Pisces, then the speed of the Sun slows down. Whereas in auspicious works, Sun should be fully active and Jupiter should be auspicious with full powers.

Auspicious functions like marriage, engagement, house warming, mundan are not performed during Kharmas. Also, one should not start any new business during this period nor should one buy gold and silver.
