Seeing this condition of the horses, Suryadev’s heart was moved and he took the horses to the bank of the pond, but then he realized that if the chariot stops, disaster will happen. There were two banks near the pond. According to the belief, Suryadev left the horses there to drink water and rest and harnessed the donkeys to the chariot.
Due to the struggle of the donkeys in pulling the chariot of Suryadev, the speed of the chariot became light and somehow Suryadev completed the cycle of one month. After the horses rested, Surya’s chariot returned to its speed. In this way this sequence continues every year. This is the reason why Kharmas is celebrated every year.
