French President Emmanuel Macron is on a visit to India, who has come to India from 17 to 19 February on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this time he participated in many official programs in Delhi including Mumbai. During this, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has given a statement against India in an interview given to French news channel France24 English. Khawaja Asif alleged that India and Afghanistan together are waging a proxy war against Pakistan. According to him, New Delhi and Kabul are working on the same strategy on this issue.
The Pakistani Defense Minister also said that the possibility of war with India cannot be completely ruled out. He called it a suspicion. However, there has been no official response from India yet on these allegations. This statement of Khawaja Asif has come at a time when the atmosphere in South Asia is already sensitive regarding security and diplomatic issues.
Tension between India and Pakistan
In the last few years, tension has been seen between India and Pakistan on many issues. In such a situation, such public statements are being considered important from the point of view of regional politics. Now the focus will be on how India reacts to this and what further steps are taken at the diplomatic level.
This is not the first time that Pakistani Defense Minister Asif Khawaja has made statements against India. Even during Operation Sindoor, he had made absurd statements. Asif had said that Afghanistan is working as a representative of India and India is controlling the Taliban leadership. He had said that the people playing puppet games in Kabul are being controlled from Delhi.
