In the beginning, there is neither pain nor any discomfort due to kidney damage, due to which it becomes difficult to identify the disease without investigation.

It is necessary to get urine test done

This is why it is very important for people suffering from diabetes or high BP to get regular blood and urine tests done, even if they feel completely healthy. However, there are some kidney related problems in which pain can be felt. Pain may arise in conditions like kidney stones, infection or tumor. The special thing is that it is not necessary that this pain is always felt at the place of the kidney.

There may be pain in these parts of the body

Sometimes kidney pain is felt in other parts of the body, which is called “referred pain” in medical language. For example, when there is blockage in the ureter (the tube leading from the kidney to the bladder) due to a kidney stone or tumor, severe pain can start from the back and spread to the lower abdomen, thigh or private parts. This is called ureteric colic.

These symptoms should not be ignored

Kidney-related pain is often felt in the lower back, which people usually dismiss as muscle pain. But if this pain is deep, persists for a long time and is accompanied by symptoms like fever or change in urine, then one should be alert. In some cases, stomach pain can also be a sign of kidney infection or abscess. At the same time, in severe stages of kidney failure, swelling may occur around the heart, due to which chest pain may be felt. Pain, burning or swelling in feet in diabetic patients can also be a sign of kidney failure.

Doctors clearly say that there is usually no pain in the initial stages of kidney disease, but when pain appears, do not forget to take it lightly. People who are at risk of kidney disease should get themselves checked from time to time instead of waiting for the pain. Only timely identification can save the kidneys from serious damage.
