Chashoti village of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir caused disastrous destruction due to cloudburst on Thursday (August 14). After the flood, the atmosphere is full of mourning and the families of the missing people are expecting their loved ones eagerly to meet their loved ones.
More than 60 people are reported to have died in this tragedy. Most of them are pilgrims. The number of missing people has not been found yet. Rescuers are continuously campaigning to locate the people buried under the rubble.
At least 13 local villagers, including two priests, are expected to be killed in this flood. In the sudden floods due to cloudburst, huge stones, wood and huge amount of silt have flowed, due to which this picturesque village surrounded by mountains has turned into ruins.
There were 15 people with priests in the temple
Gola Nirmala Devi said on Friday, “My father Bodh Raj and uncle Dinanath used to work as a priest in the local temple. Both of them, along with about 15 people, were swept away in the sudden flood. They asked me to apply tilak on the forehead, but I refused and left before the tragedy came.
Recalling the developments, she said that she had gone to a mill to grind wheat and went to the temple while returning home.
‘If she stayed there, she would have been a victim of an accident’
Nirmala said, “I saw my father sitting among about 20 devotees. He was applying tilak on his forehead and asked me to come forward. I told that my uncle had applied tilak on my forehead in the morning. If I had stayed there for tea-breakfast or lunch, I too would have been a victim of an accident. ”
3 temples, 10 houses, one windcast damaged
Apart from this temple, more than 10 residential houses, six government buildings, two other temples, four windmills, a bridge and more than a dozen vehicles were damaged in the sudden floods in the villages and low -lying areas.

Nirmala said, “Hearing the sound of a loud explosion, I felt as if an earthquake had occurred. I cried and went up and started to see what was happening. I was scared to see the destruction of the temple, the destruction of the temple.
Machal Mata Yatra was to run till 5 September
The accident occurred due to cloudburst on 14 August in Chashoti, a remote hill village in Kishtwar district. The disaster in Chashoti village on the route leading to Machail Mata Temple came at 12.25 pm. A large number of people gathered there to visit the Machail Mata temple when the accident took place. The yatra started on 25 July and was to end on September 5.
Local told a painful story of disaster
One of the victims who lost their home in the tragedy, Bilu Kumar said that at least 13 local people of the village lost their lives in this incident. He said, “The bodies of 10 of them were recovered, while three are still not known.”
Ramesh Chander, head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police, said that he was stationed at the anchor site on the journey route and was scared to hear the sound of cloudburst. Chander said, “The ground started shaking under my feet. I saw those who could not run on time, they were suppressed or swept away. Manjar was very frightening. ”
