This was the second highest score made by Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League history. Due to the stormy innings of Edan Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Puran, LSG scored a mountain of 238 runs. At one time Kolkata scored 162 runs in 13 overs and the team needed 77 runs to win in 7 overs. Since Venkatesh Iyer and captain Rahane were set on the crease, this target was starting to look very easy for KKR.
After the conclusion of the 13th over, the KKR was able to score only 39 runs in the next 5 overs, due to which the run-rate required for him continued to grow. Rinku Singh played a stormy innings of 38 runs in 15 balls in the last over and also scored 19 runs in the last over of the innings, but in the end the KKR remained just 4 runs away from the victory.
