Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Team India came out to bowl. But something like this happened in the middle match, when neither India captain Gill nor Vice -captain Rishabh Pant was taking charge of the team, but KL Rahul was seen taking all the decisions in Lord’s. What is the rule about changing the captain in the middle of the match, know here.
KL Rahul became a ‘captain’ of a day
During the third session of the Lord’s Test between India and England, Shubman Gill left the ground for some time, after which India’s opening batsman KL Rahul took command of the team. In such a situation, the ICC rule says that if the captain is not present on the field, then the vice -captain has to handle the team and take all the necessary decisions.
When Shubman Gill left the match and went out in the middle, then Rishabh Pant, the vice -captain of India, was also not present on the field. Due to injury to Pant’s finger, he had gone outside the field and Dhruv Jurael was seen keeping wickets in his place. In such a situation, Pant could not handle the captaincy instead of Gill.
What is the ICC rule?
According to the ICC rules, if both the captain and the vice -captain are not present on the field, then the team’s captain and the coach decides who should be given the responsibility of the team for some time. This is the player who is an experienced player of the team. KL Rahul was given the responsibility in the team based on his experience. Now on the second day of Lord’s Test, Shubman Gill is captaining India. But Rishabh Pant is still not able to return to the field due to injury.
