When Tata Motors launched the new Tata Sierra in the Indian market, it became clear that the company has come to make a big bet in the mid-size SUV segment. The work that was left incomplete with Curvv is being attempted to be completed through Sierra. Tata Sierra is getting tremendous response in the market due to its starting price of Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom), powerful design and premium feel. But Tata also has a secret plan with this SUV, knowing which can prove to be a profitable deal for you.

Standard and Extended Warranty

  • With Tata Sierra, the company offers a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 kilometers, which is considered good in this segment. Apart from this, if customers wish, they can further increase this protection by taking extended warranty. The starting price of Tata Motors extended warranty is around Rs 20,000, although it varies depending on the engine and gearbox. This can prove to be a smart decision for those who keep the car for a long time.

When will the benefit be availed and when will the surcharge be imposed?

  • Tata Motors has set clear rules for availing extended warranty. If you take extended warranty within 90 days of purchasing the vehicle, you will not have to pay any extra charges. But if warranty is taken between 90 to 180 days, 10% surcharge will have to be paid. Whereas after 180 days, if you take extended warranty, you will have to pay up to 20% more amount. That means, the sooner you decide, the more benefit you will get.

Extended Warranty Plans and Price

  • There are two types of extended warranty plans available for Tata Sierra. The 1 year or 1,00,000 km plan starts at around Rs 20,220 for the NA petrol MT and goes up to around Rs 24,400 for the diesel AT. Whereas the plan of 2 years or 1,25,000 kilometers is a bit expensive, the price of which ranges from Rs 25,000 to more than Rs 34,000. This plan is better for those who intend to drive the Sierra for a long time.

Is taking extended warranty the right decision?

  • Today’s vehicles may have become more reliable, but taking an extended warranty eliminates the worry of major repair expenses to a great extent. Especially with a new SUV like Tata Sierra, this warranty makes the ownership experience much better.
