Indian women’s cricket team has created history by defeating Australia. In the semi-finals of the World Cup 2025, India defeated the seven-time champion team by 5 wickets and confirmed its place in the final. After this historic victory, the entire cricket world is praising Indian women players. Indian men’s team head coach Gautam Gambhir also could not stop himself on this occasion. He congratulated the team and in his own style wrote a message which directly touched the heart.
Gambhir’s message became a topic of discussion
Gautam Gambhir wrote on Twitter, “Nothing is over until the game is over! What an amazing performance by the girls!” This tweet of his is going viral on social media. This style of Gambhir reminds of his old spirit, when he himself played a match-winning inning in the 2011 World Cup.
Jemima’s innings awakened memories of 2011
Jemimah Rodriguez was the biggest hero of India’s victory. Coming in at number 3, he scored unbeaten 127 runs in 134 balls. This is the same position on which Gautam Gambhir played a brilliant inning of 97 runs against Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup final.
The similarity does not end here. Both of them played their innings on the grounds of Mumbai. The story of victory was written with the bat of both and there were “good stains” of mud on the jerseys of both. While Wankhede Stadium witnessed India’s victory in 2011, now in 2025, DY Patil Stadium witnessed the historic victory of the women’s team.

India won the semi-finals by chasing the target of 339 runs, which is the biggest successful chase in the history of women’s ODI cricket. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played an inning of 89 runs and made a partnership of 167 runs with Jemimah for the third wicket.
