India’s security system is considered one of the strongest arrangements in the world. Both the Indian Army (military) and paramilitary force (paramilitary) are engaged in the security of the country day and night. But have you ever wondered what is the difference between these two? First of all, understand both
Military means Indian Army. It consists of three branches-
- Indian Army (Army)
- Indian Air Force (Air Force)
- Indian navy (navy)
These three branches come directly under the Ministry of Defense and are responsible for protecting the borders of the country, war and defense campaigns.
At the same time, paramilitary forces i.e. paramilitary forces – they come under the Ministry of Home Affairs and help in maintaining internal security, borders and maintaining law and order of the country. This includes-

Work and responsibilities of working
Military is the main task of the army, external security of the country, defense from enemy countries and taking action in the event of war. At the same time, paramilitary forces are deployed for borders monitoring, operation in Naxal -affected areas, control over riots and security in elections.
Difference between salary and facilities
Talking about salary, salary is fixed according to rank in both areas. But the facilities available in the Indian Army i.e. Military are more. Army officers and soldiers get free medical, canteen for family, government housing, children’s education and pension after retirement. At the same time, facilities are also provided in paramilitary forces, but in many cases they are considered a little less than the army. However, the government is working towards equalizing these facilities.
Difference in recruitment process
For recruitment in military, examinations like NDA, CDS, AFCAT are done while SSC, UPSC and other state level examinations admitted in paramilitary are done.
