Rajiv Verma has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. He will take charge from October 1. Rajiv Verma is a 1992 -gmut (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) IAS officer of cadre. Verma has been working as the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh since last year.
Earlier, he has worked as the Chief Secretary of Puducherry. Rajiv Verma will replace Delhi’s current Chief Secretary Dharmendra, who is retiring on 30 September.

Rajiv Verma is a native of UP
Rajiv Verma was born in 1966 in UP. He has graduated in Computer Science from Roorkee University and MTech from IIT. After being successful in UPSC Civil Services Examination, his first posting took place in 1994 as SDM in Aizawl. According to the report of Indian Express, Verma, a native of Uttar Pradesh, also worked as Finance and Revenue Secretary in the Delhi government from 2018 to 2022.
Experience to work in many important positions
He has also worked in important positions in the Transport Department of Delhi. Also, in other departments of the capital, there is experience of working on the posts of Secretary and Additional Secretary level. In his three -decade long bureaucracy career, Verma has also served in important positions in departments like Defense Ministry, Ministry of Energy and Family Welfare in the Central Government.
