The police has achieved great success during the ongoing campaign against illegal weapons in Kota city of Rajasthan. Borkheda police station has arrested a youth with a pistol and live cartridges. It is being told that the accused has been associated with the Youth Wing of Congress and he has also previously been the Youth Congress President of the assembly constituency.
According to the police, they had received secret information that a youth was roaming in suspicious condition in New Nohra Road area and he might have an illegal weapon. As soon as the information was received, the Borkheda police station cordoned off the area and within a short time the suspicious youth was caught. Upon search, a pistol and live cartridges were recovered from him.
Fear of connection with Kohinoor gang
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed that he had allegedly purchased this pistol from some members of the Kohinoor gang. Police suspect that he was planning to sell this weapon to someone else. However, it is not yet clear to whom the weapons were to be sold and for what purpose.
Supply chain investigation started
Kota Police is now trying to get to the bottom of the entire matter. The police is finding out who else is involved in the arms supply chain. Besides, the criminal record of the accused is also being investigated, so that it can be made clear whether he has any direct connection with any big gang or other criminal activity.
At present the accused is being continuously interrogated and will soon be presented in the court. Police officials say that action against those possessing illegal weapons in the city will continue.
