The Supreme Court has given a big blow to Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the Unnao gangrape case and expelled from BJP. The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Delhi High Court, in which Sengar’s life imprisonment was suspended.
Stay on Delhi High Court order
The Supreme Court stayed the decision of the Delhi High Court, in which the life sentence of Kuldeep Sengar was suspended in the Unnao rape case involving a minor victim. The court also made it clear that Sengar is already in jail in another case and the High Court order will have no effect now.
Supreme Court notice on CBI petition
Supreme Court has issued notice to Kuldeep Sengar on the appeal of CBI. The court has given time to the opposition to file the counter affidavit and has clearly said that Sengar will not be released from jail under any circumstances till the next hearing.
First reaction of the victim’s lawyer
The victim’s lawyer Hemant Kumar Maurya has welcomed the order of the Supreme Court. He said, ‘I want to thank the Supreme Court today. The victim is also grateful for this decision of the court. The Supreme Court has given a clear order to the lower courts that the accused will not be released from jail under any circumstances. The order of the High Court has been put on hold.
The victim will get justice – Congress
Congress leader Mumtaz Patel, reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision, said that now the hope of getting justice for the Unnao victim has strengthened. He said, ‘Kuldeep Sengar should get death penalty. Strict laws should be made for crimes like rape, so that such crimes can be stopped.
