Its credit goes to Land Rover Defender, who sold a record of 1,15,404 units a year. This is the highest figure of the defender so far, due to which this SUV has become very popular worldwide and especially in India.
Recently launched Defender Octa
In March 2025, Land Rover introduced its most powerful SUV Defender Octa in the Indian market. Its initial price was kept at 2.59 crore (ex-showroom), while the price of its more special one edition reached about 2.79 crore. This SUV is not only powerful in performance, but its design, presence and features also make it different.
Engine and power
Talking about the engine of Defender Octa, this SUV is unmatched in terms of strength and technology. A 4.4-liter twin-tourbocharged V8 engine is given under its bonnet, which is combined with mild-hybrid technology. This engine generates tremendous power of 626 horsepower and torque of 800 Nm. This SUV catchs the speed of 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds and its top speed is 250 kilometers per hour. Its power is controlled through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the big updates made in its chassis and mechanical setup make it the most powerful Defender version ever.
In the last financial year, the demand for electrified cars of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has also increased rapidly. Global sales of the company’s plug-in hybrid models (PHEVs) have recorded an increase of 21.7%. In particular, the Range Rover brand has achieved the highest demand in the PHEV segment with a 38.2% increase, while the Range Rover Sport has increased the year-to-one wholesale sales by 19.7%. JLR has also launched 21 Limited Edition SV Trims for major markets like India, Japan, UAE, Taiwan, China, Australia and UK under its global strategy.
SUV prices may fall
There is also good news about the prices of Land Rover Defender in India. After the recent FTA (Free Trade Agreement) between India and the United Kingdom, it is expected that the prices of luxury SUVs like Defender may fall. With this, international level high-end vehicles will be available to Indian customers at better and affordable prices.
