The results of the elections of Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis in Maharashtra are being declared on Monday (February 9). According to the data till 4 pm, BJP is leading in the Zilla Parishad elections. BJP has won 234 seats. Whereas Shiv Sena, which is an ally of Shinde group in Mahayuti, has got 139 seats. All eyes are on the results of these elections amid speculations about the merger of the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). NCP has won 151 seats. NCP of Sharad Pawar faction has won 19 seats. Whereas Uddhav Thackeray faction’s Shiv Sena (UBT) has won 44 seats, Congress 49 seats and others 30 seats.
Putting aside the rivalry of the last two years, both factions of NCP contested the local body elections in Pune, Satara, Solapur and Sangli under an informal alliance. In these areas, candidates from both the parties contested on the original ‘Clock’ election symbol.

This victory is dedicated to PM Modi- Ravindra Chavan
Maharashtra BJP chief Ravindra Chavan, reacting to the results, said, “Whether it is Assembly elections, Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Corporation or today Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections. The public has continuously expressed its confidence in the Mahayuti government. Today’s victory is dedicated to our leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had a visionary vision of development from Panchayat Samiti to Parliament. This victory is the victory of the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He further said that due to the demise of our Mahayuti leader Ajit Dada in a plane crash, it has been decided that there will be no grand rally nor any celebration.
Who are the 12 Zilla Parishads?
The counting of votes for the elections of Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis in Maharashtra started at 10 am on Monday (February 9). The 12 district councils include Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv and Latur.
