Recently, IPL 2026 auction has been in discussion, regarding which the new update is that this time BCCI can organize the auction in India only. After Saudi showed interest in the Indian Premier League, BCCI had conducted the 2024 auction in Dubai. After that the 2025 auction was held in Jeddah. Now a report by Cricbuzz has revealed that if the mini auction of 2026 takes place in India, then it will not be a shocking topic.
Till now BCCI has not released any details related to the date and venue of IPL 2026 auction. But reports believe that the auction can be conducted between December 13-15. Let us remind you that last year (IPL 2025 Mega Auction) was conducted in Jeddah.
Till now Bengaluru is the city which has hosted the IPL auction the most number of times. A total of 7 auctions have been conducted in Bengaluru. But in the last few years, more importance has been given to Ahmedabad. After the arrival of Gujarat Titans franchise in 2022, three out of four IPL finals have been played in Ahmedabad only. It is possible that this time the auction may also be hosted by Ahmedabad.
The last time the auction was organized in India was in 2023, when Kochi hosted the auction. Let us tell you that Bengaluru has hosted the auction 7 times and Chennai 3 times. Whereas after the first season i.e. 2008, no auction has ever been conducted in Mumbai.
According to reports, the last date for submitting the list of retained players can be kept as 15th November. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals can release many big players, especially Sanju Samson’s name has been in the news in the last months.
