Israeli security policy expert Jaki Shalom has commented on the importance of ‘national honor’ in world politics. Describing the firm attitude of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi as an example, he said that India has given a lesson to the US and Pakistan while protecting its national honor. Shalom said this in an article published in The Jerusalem Post.
India became a firm stand
According to Israeli security policy expert Zaki Shalom, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strict stance on tariff policy with the US and a clear response to border conflict with Pakistan indicates that “national honor is not a luxury, but a far -reaching strategic property.”
Indo-US relations have become tense in recent months, as the US imposed heavy tariffs on India for oil imports from Russia. The Modi government also completely rejected the claim of a ceasefire negotiation by US President Donald Trump. Shalome said that Prime Minister Modi also ignored the calls of President Trump four times.
Criticism on Israel’s response
Shalom criticized the “confident” response of the Israeli government and the army after bombing Naser Hospital. At least 20 citizens were killed in this attack. He said that different statements from the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), Army Chief and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a message that they were accepting the responsibility of killing fair citizens. According to him, such a response can become a dangerous example in terms of international law.
Strategic importance of national honor
Shalom said that when India faced unexpected criticism from US President Trump, Prime Minister Modi replied firmly instead of bowing and protected national honors. He explained that this strict response was a clear message of not accepting India as a subordinate nation.
Adopting the attitude of excessive transparency and anxiety at the time of Israeli’s Khan Younis attack can reduce short -term loss, but damages long -term strategic interests. Shalom concluded that any country should protect its national honor even in difficult circumstances. He said that from India we learn that national honor is not a luxury, but a strategic property. If Israel wants to strengthen its safety and international place, then it will have to present its position with full strong.
