After 6 months, start a supplementary diet, including lentils, rice, green vegetables, fruits, and protein -rich foods such as milk, eggs and peanuts.

Focus on cleanliness
A major cause of malnutrition is diarrhea and other diseases, which are caused by dirt and contaminated water. Children should be given clean water and boiled water. It is necessary to wash hands before cooking and feeding.

Regular health check -up and vaccination
Malnutrition can be detected in the initial stage by regular health check -up of children. Children’s weight, length and health check -up are done for free at Anganwadi centers and primary health centers. Also, get vaccinated at the right time which protect children from diseases.

Awareness and education
Awareness is very important to fight malnutrition. It is very important for parents to be aware of nutrition, hygiene and development of children. Anganwadi and health workers are working in this direction in rural areas.
