Australia’s Pat Cummins and Travis Head have rejected the offer to leave Australian cricket and play full-time in foreign T20 leagues. It is reported that an IPL team had offered them a deal worth 10 million Australian dollars for a year, but both have given priority to the national team. In fact, a report in an Australian newspaper Sydney Morning Herald revealed that both Cummins and Head have rejected the offer.
Australia’s top cricketers get 1.5 million US dollars a year i.e. about Rs 13.3 crore. At the same time, the amount that Cummins receives due to captaincy stipend is 3 million dollars. Cummins and Head are also counted among the most expensive players of IPL. For the 2025 season, Cummins got a salary of Rs 18 crore and Head got a salary of Rs 14 crore.
BBL will be privatized!
In the same report, it was also claimed that talks are going on with state cricket associations and players for the privatization of Big Bash League (BBL). It was told that the deal offered to Cummins and Head is being seen as an example of bringing change in international cricket, so that private investment can be invited in BBL.
With the arrival of investment, the salaries of the players will increase. Earlier in 2023, England fast bowler Joffra Archer was offered a deal of $7.7 million by Mumbai Indians. For this he would have to leave international cricket and play for MI. But Archer rejected that offer.
It was this year when South Africa’s ace wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen retired from international cricket. Although he is still playing in T20 leagues.
