Anti-government protests have been going on in Iran for three weeks. More than 500 people have died during these demonstrations, while thousands of people have been detained. These demonstrations are being held in view of the rising inflation and falling currency in the country. Meanwhile, America has issued an advisory for its citizens.
US Agency issued advisory
The advisory issued by the US Agency states that protests are increasing across Iran and may turn violent, due to which arrests may increase and more people may be injured. It has been told that due to tight security arrangements and closure of roads, there are difficulties in getting public transport.
‘Consider going to Armenia or Türkiye by road’
The Iranian government has restricted access to mobile, landline and national internet networks. Airlines are limiting or canceling flights to and from Iran, many of which have suspended their services until Friday (January 16). The advisory states that American citizens should be prepared for continued internet disruptions and during this time, American citizens should seek other alternative means for communication. It is further said that if it is safe to do so, then one should consider going to Armenia or Türkiye by road.
Iran crossed the red line – Trump
US President Donald Trump has warned the Iranian regime of consequences for the killing of protesters. Trump said on Sunday that Iran has crossed the red line. On the other hand, Iran has also retaliated. Tehran says that if we are attacked, we will also not remain silent. He has talked about attacking American targets. Amidst all this, there is high alert in Israel also.
