The 35th edition of Lakshminarayan Global Music Festival (LGMF) started on a grand note in New Delhi on Thursday evening. Which made Delhi a confluence of world music, classical talent and art of different cultures. This concert in Delhi, which took place in Bansra Park, was the beginning of India’s longest running global music festival. Which will also happen in Chandigarh, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru by January 2026.
There was a blast in Delhi
This event was organized in Delhi in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Music was celebrated on opening night. The stage was set on fire by the powerful presence of Kazakhstan’s Astana Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, which included a full choir, a ballet group and some of India’s most renowned musicians.
Dance performance won hearts
There was one performance of the evening that left everyone crazy. Dance ensemble Gakkoo presented choreographed ballet sequences set to big orchestral music. Movements, dramatic lifts and formations, including a sequence where the dancers were lifted into the air. After which people were not stopping clapping. Contemporary choreography and spectacular lighting created a mesmerizing visual story that went well with the music.
The heart of the concert was maestro Dr. L. Subramaniam, whose violin handled the performance with both precision and emotion. The Delhi audience witnessed the Indian premiere of the Navagraha Symphony, a brand new orchestral composition and an important milestone in his illustrious career.
when did it start
Established in 1992 in the memory of Professor V. Lakshminarayana, the LGMF has carved a special place for itself in India’s cultural calendar by presenting global juggernauts, rare instruments and major collaborations to Indian audiences over three decades. The first program held in Delhi proved that legacy again. Not as an old institution but as a living embodiment of global music. After the grand start in Delhi, the next concert is going to be held in Chandigarh on 19th January.
