Liechtenstein Travel: Imagine what it would be like if you had an entire country at your disposal for a few days. This may seem like a fantasy but in 2010 the small European country Liechtenstein made it possible. This country started a unique marketing campaign. Under which any person could rent the entire country for US$ 70,000 per night with a minimum stay of two nights. The offer included accommodation for 900 guests, more than 500 bedrooms and bathrooms and exclusive benefits such as placing your own signs, minting your own currency and even tasting wine with Prince Hans Adam II himself.
a historical site
The scheme was a publicity event but it highlighted Liechtenstein’s attractions, history and natural beauty. For history lovers, there is a castle on a hill above Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. This fort is the official residence of the prince here. Although the interior of this fort is prohibited for the general public, it still provides panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes.
Gutenberg Castle
This fort is one of the five most protected forts in Liechtenstein. It was built in 1100 AD and now serves as a museum. Along with this, there is also a castle fort for hiking lovers which is known as Wildschloss. Although it is now in ruins, it can still be easily reached on foot or by mountain bike.
Unique experiences here
The campaign, which hired the entire country, emphasized that this place can provide a once in a lifetime experience. From crafting your own currency to private wine tasting, there are things to do here that offer a unique blend of luxury, history and natural beauty.
Why is it special?
Despite Liechtenstein’s small size, its historic castles and rich culture make it a unique destination. Whether you wander through the ruins or taste world-class wine, here you will get an experience that hardly any other country can match.
