Former Australian player Damien Martin is now out of danger. He was in coma for the last several days. However, now Martin has completely recovered. In a long post on social media, he thanked people for the love and good wishes he received during his illness. Martin was suffering from meningitis. Even his life was said to be in danger.

Former Australian batsman Damien Martyn wrote on X, “This post is as a thank you to my family, friends and everyone who contacted me. On 27th December 2025 when meningitis took over my mind and before I knew it I was placed in a paralyzed coma for 8 days to help fight this terrible disease. The chances of survival were 50/50.”

He further wrote, “I came out of the induced coma after 8 days, unable to walk or speak. Yet 4 days later, the doctors couldn’t believe I walked, I talked and proved to them all why I should be released from the hospital to begin my recovery. So happy to be home, on the beach, with my feet in the sand and thanking all the people who helped with their unwavering support for me and my family.”

Martin further wrote, “This experience has reminded me how fragile life is, how quickly everything can change and how precious time is. There are so many wonderful people in this world. Paramedics, doctors and nurses (at Gold Coast University Hospital), family, friends, and people I didn’t even know. I think I met all these wonderful people in the last 3 weeks. They reached out to me with messages of love and support. The former Australian great further wrote, I am so thankful to you all. Yes, 2026, I’m back.
