LinkedIn Lays Off 281 Employees Across California Teams Hit Hardest Microsoft Reshapes Workforce

LinkedIn has once again trimmed mass. The company has shown the way out to a total of 281 employees from the US state of California. This retrenchment has been done in technical teams such as engineering, machine learning, infrastructure, dawops and design of the company. According to the SF GATE report, the step is part of the large structure of Microsoft, under which around 6,000 employees are being trimmed worldwide.

The employees extracted from Linkedin’s team are from different offices in California. Sfgate Report It is said that 159 people have been evacuated from Mountain View Office, 60 from San Francisco, 23 from Sunnywell and 11 from Carpinaria. Apart from this, there are 28 employees who were working in remote rolls. Earlier, the company had also allegedly removed 716 people in 2023.

The report further states that LinkedIn’s parent company Microsoft had already indicated that there would be major changes in team structure due to automation and AI. Of techcrunch UnderCEO Satya Nadella himself said in April that now about 30% of AI being written in the company is generating AI, that is, the need for human developers is decreasing in many places.

However, LinkedIn has not yet released any official statement regarding this latest trimming nor has been cleared about the Severn Package or Future Leoff Plan. The report has also revealed that the extracted employees are now posting themselves on Linkedin in search of a new job and actively increasing the network.

This trim of Linkedin has joined the list of all companies of Silicon Valley who are cutting their workforce due to the increasing influence of AI.
