So far, a total of 7 people have been confirmed dead in the horrific train accident in Bilaspur, while 14 others are injured. However, how this accident happened is a big question. Railway Board has issued a statement regarding this. The board says that perhaps the passenger train had crossed the red signal. Apart from this, a high level inquiry committee has been formed by the Railways regarding this horrific accident.
What did railway officials say about the accident,
According to the report of news agency PTI, a statement has been issued by the Indian Railway Board regarding this accident. According to the initial investigation of the accident, Railway officials have said that it seems that the cause of the accident is crossing the red signal of the DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train. This means that the loco pilot of the passenger train may have ignored the red signal, due to which this major accident occurred.
The accident will be investigated at the level of Railway Safety Commissioner.
Railway officials said that the accident happened because both the trains had come on the same track. Now the question is how did both the trains reach the same track? Either the reason behind this might have been ignoring the signal or there might have been a technical problem in the route diversion or a malfunction in the signaling system. At the same time, the real reason behind this collision will be known only after the report of the investigation committee comes out. The Railway Board said in an official statement that a detailed investigation into this incident will be conducted at the level of Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). So that the real reasons behind the accident can be clarified.
