London Airport: On Saturday (March 22, 2025) by Heathro Airport in London, it was reported that flights have started again after the power supply was disrupted and the airport is now completely operational. The statement issued by the airport said, ‘We can confirm that Heathro has opened today and is completely operational. Teams at the airport are making every effort to help the passengers affected by the failure of the power substation located outside the airport yesterday. We have added flights to today’s schedule for the convenience of additional 10,000 passengers traveling from the airport. Passengers have suggested to contact their airline for the latest information about their flight.
Heathro Airport CEO Thomas Woldboy said that he does not expect a large number of flights to delay and cancellation on Saturday, but the airlines will have to deal with the passengers who are trapped by the obstruction due to power cuts.
Anti -terrorism team investigating the cause of the fire
According to The Guardian report, the travel plan of 2,00,000 people is expected to be interrupted by the closure of one of the world’s busy airports. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police (MAT) anti-terrorism officer is investigating the fire in the nearby power substation, due to which the airport was closed. He said that the anti -terrorism team is leading the investigation.
Cancelled after fire
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said that there is no indication of any disturbance at the moment but the officials are working with an open mind regarding the cause of the fire. According to the report by the news agency Xinhua, flights were canceled after two explosions and fire in an electric substation in Hayes, West London on Thursday night. People were evacuated from their homes and local schools were closed. Some aircraft were sent to other airports including London Gatvik Airport, Paris and Shannon Airport in Ireland.
Last year, the airport, which handled a record 83.9 million passengers, said its back-up diesel generators were working as expected but have not been designed to allow them to operate full.
