London-Mumbai IndiGo flight diverted to Egypt due to tension in Middle East, passengers stranded at airport for hours

Indigo flight 6E2 coming from London to Mumbai had to be diverted en route to land in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. According to the information, this flight had left from London Heathrow Airport on the night of 8 March and it was to reach Mumbai on the morning of 9 March. But due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East and closure of some airfields, the plane was diverted towards Cairo International Airport.

Travelers do not have visa for Egypt

After this, the Indian passengers on board the plane remained stranded at Cairo airport for several hours. The passengers also include small children and elderly people. Who had to face a long wait. Now it will come to India tomorrow (10 March). After reaching Cairo, the passengers were not immediately allowed to leave the airport because most of the passengers did not have Egyptian visas. For this reason he had to wait in the airport premises itself.

The plane could not fly further

According to airline sources, FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation) was also a major reason for the delay. Under international aviation rules, pilots and cabin crew cannot perform continuous duty for more than a fixed time. By the time they reached Cairo the crew’s duty period was over. Due to which the plane could not take off immediately.

Passengers waited for hours at the airport

During this period, passengers had to wait at the airport for several hours. Some passengers said on social media that they had to face a lot of inconvenience due to the long delay.

FDTL rules are also becoming the reason for delay

It is being told that there will be crew rest to normalize the airline situation. After which the flight will leave for Mumbai. In recent times, due to tension and airspace restrictions in many parts of the Middle East, there have been changes in the routes of international flights, which has affected the operation of many flights and now FDTL rules are also causing delays.
