Well-known Hindi scholar Francesca Orsini of London was stopped from coming to India on Monday (20 October 2025) night. Despite having a valid five-year e-visa, he was not allowed to enter Delhiās Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to sources, the government said that Francesca Orsini had come to India on a tourist visa, but she violated the conditions of the visa.

Francesca Orsini has studied from JNU
Francesca Orsini is a renowned scholar and professor of Hindi at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London. He obtained his graduation degree in Hindi from Venice University, Italy. He did further studies in India at the Central Institute of Hindi and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Francesca Orsini received her doctorate from SOAS, London. Presently she is working as a Professor of Hindi and South Asian Literature in the School of Culture and Linguistics. Francesca Orsini has also taught at Cambridge University. There is a debate on social media about his deportation.
