Team India is also on the verge of defeat in the second test being played in Guwahati. If the Indian team, which is trailing 0-1 in the series after losing the Kolkata Test, loses this match, then its score will be clean. On the fourth day, South Africa set a target of 549 runs for India. By the end of the day’s play, Team India lost two wickets for 27 runs. Sai Sudarshan and Kuldeep Yadav returned unbeaten. Now on the last day, India has to score 522 runs to win, which is almost impossible. Whereas South Africa has to take 8 wickets to win. After the end of the fourth day’s play, experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja said that the defeat in the series against South Africa will not have much impact. He also stressed that getting a draw in the second test would be like a ‘victory’ for the young team.

We will try to save the test match- Ravindra Jadeja

It is almost certain that India will lose the two-Test series against South Africa, because it will be impossible to achieve the target of 549 runs on the last day. After the end of the fourth day’s play, Jadeja told reporters, “I don’t think it will have any impact on the next series, but as a cricketer no one wants to lose a series, especially in India, so hopefully we will try to play our best cricket. We will try to give our best tomorrow.”

He further said, “We will try to save the Test match. Even if we are not winning the series, we can still draw the match which will be a win-win situation for us.” Jadeja believes that losing the series against South Africa will be a valuable learning experience for the young players in the Indian team. The host team has many young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar who are in the initial stages of their Test career.

‘If you lose a series in India it becomes a big deal’

Jadeja said, look at the young players in the team, I think they are in the learning phase. His career is starting. No matter which format you play in international cricket, it is not easy. No matter what format you play, it is always a bit challenging.

Jadeja said that whenever a team loses at home, the lack of experience of the youth makes more headlines than when it wins. He said, when such a situation happens in India and you play three-four young players in the team, then it seems that the entire team is young and less experienced and it is made headlines. But when India wins at home, people think it is not a big deal. If you lose a series in India then it becomes a big deal.
